I’m a Confessional Lutheran in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. I earned my degrees in Wisconsin: Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a concentration in ancient, biblical languages from Northwestern College in Watertown and Master of Divinity from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon. But despite all the Wisconsin schooling, I’m a native Michigan boy. I grew up in the middle of the lower peninsula and have served as a pastor on both sides of the state, in the Kalamazoo area, in Tawas City and, most recently, as president of Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, Michigan. I resigned the most recent call for the good of the school’s ministry but retain my qualification among congregations of the WELS to preach and serve as a pastor, should I be called back. My joy, my life, is serving the one, true God in the only way a sinner can–in the holiness of the Spirit and in the forgiveness that is ours through the willing and loving sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Praise God! Our ransom has been paid! We are free! And God, our Savior, wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:3,4).
This blog was not originally a journal or even to write blog entries. For the most part it was simply a place for me to post sermons so that I can point people here when they ask. Perhaps someone far away will be edified. Perhaps a brother or sister in the faith will recognize my words going astray and help me as I attempt to do nothing but speak the very words of God.
Now that I no longer have a call in the public ministry, I’m not sure what will come of the blog. We’ll see.
This is my main, public web presence. I’m glad you could visit!
Welcome to the blog-o-sphere! God’s blessings on your digital outreach!
Interesting reading, Aaron! What a great site, and a wonderful resource for your flock to go back and reflect if they missed something in the Sunday delivery. I really enjoyed it.
